For 20 years Barbara Livingston was Editorial Artist/Illustrator for The Cincinnati Post. Versatile in a variety of media as well as style her illustrations depicted everything from Opening Day sports, to courtroom sketches, caricatures and elaborate feature pages. Winner of numerous awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and The Cleveland Press Club, her illustrations for The Post often found their way into other newspapers across the nation. After leaving The Post, Barbara continued her commercial art career as an illustrator doing work for various agencies and including clients such as Coca-Cola, Health Alliance, The Freedom Center, The Cincinnati Art Museum and The Cincinnati Business Courier.
Currently, Barbara is enjoying retirement from commercial work and is pursuing her love of painting the landscape. Working in a variety of media, she enjoys painting ‘en plein air’ and finds inspiration in her love of nature. She has a special fondness for painting scenes from her home state of Kentucky as well as her present Ohio home. Her studio is located 17 miles east of Cincinnati near New Richmond, Ohio.
Through the years Barbara has studied with national/internationally known; Daniel Greene, Doug Dawson, Elizabeth Mowry, Elin Pendleton, Susan Sarback, Dan Young, and most recently, Chuck Marshall of Mason, Ohio. She is also one of the artists featured in the most recent edition of The New Creative Artist, by Nita Leland, published by F&W.
